Interjections in French and English: A Comparative Study

Abstract

This research tries to find a classification of interjections in English and French. The data chosen are taken from literary texts, internet, cartoons and children magazines. We shall show that this universal phenomenon does not necessitate the existence of a certain interjection in other languages. It is found that, though definitions are similar, yet no clear division of the types of interjections is mode. Some of the interjections are natural noises whereas some others are human articulated sounds.
