Abstract

AbstractThis study aimed at diagnosing the coordinate geometric errors of students at basic stage in Jordan through answering these questions: 1-What are the kinds of errors which 9th grade students usually make while they answer the questions in coordinate geometric unit?2-How common is every kind of these mistakes between students in each question of the diagnosing test?The searchers developed a diagnosing test consisting of two parts (comprehension questions and multiple choice questions). The sample consisted of (388) 9th grade students who were chosen randomly from governmental school in Amman.The study showed that there are common mistakes such as: not using the appropriate generalizations for solving the question , the inability to apply the generalizations, conceptual mistakes, and calculation mistakes.The study recommended that teachers need to concentrate on the mistakes which student usually commit , they need to focus in concepts and generalization at higher stages and not to move from any subject until the students understand the concepts and the calculation processes fully.
