السّخرية عند علي الدّوعاجي وساسي حمام

Abstract

AbstractWhen we talk about irony in the contemporary Tunisian literature we have to stop at two important attempts in this regard. These two attempts are: the attempt of Ali Aldoaaji from the first generation of creative writers and Sassy Hamam from the second generation. They both use the element of irony in their literary work and devote their writing to highlight this element within the frame of their living reality with all its crises, flaws and pain in a clever form which masters the art of painting a smile on the faces and showing tears in the eyes. That made irony particularly a congruous attribute to their work in the Tunisian modern creative scene. This study examines the ironic aspects of their narrative production and study it in the only collection of stories for Ali Aldoaaji which he “stayed up nights” writing them. He completed writing them before 1949. It was published sporadically in 1996. This study also addresses irony in the narrative production of Sassy Hamam which is represented in three collections of short stories which were published during his creative career. They are: “Panting with me” published in 1982, “Spare Parts” published in 1994 and “The Card” published in 2009.
