عجائبيّة رمز الأفعى بين السحر والتأويل قراءة في حكاية "مغامرات حاسب كريم الدين"

Abstract

AbstractThis study tends to trace the supernatural and magic images of the “Snake” in a particular Arabian Night story entitled “The Story of Hassib Karim Eddine” which is characterized by the intensive presence of this animal/symbolAs a starting point, we make an overview about the symbolic uses of “The Snake” in several myths, literary texts, ancient and modern, and religious texts as well and then we examine the mentioned above corpus. To conclude, the study confirms that there was a” duality” in this symbol. In one hand, it evokes its conventional meanings such as evil and revenge. On the other hand, it represents uncommon meanings like goodness and utility. Besides, “The Snake” tends to play the role of Sheherazed; the narrator who procrastinates her fate and delays her death. In all cases, the fantasy heavily dominates the whole story.
