Abstract

AbstractThe present paper studies pigeon in the tradition of different nations and legends which were told about this bird owing to the sense of sorrow it has been known of، which it is said that it hold after loosing its young bird (young male bird or dove) since the earlier of Noah as reported by the legends. This symbol has been transferred into the Arabic literature in the pre Islam era. This symbol has found its way in the Islamic poetry where it has been utilized by the poets to their deepest feeling. So the love poets successfully utilized it in live sorrow and though which other poets expressed their elegize presenting what burns their hearts when leaving their believers for good. Even the stranger might find in this symbol his own counterpart in being strange. So he untied with this sad bird.
