Abstract

2 - 5,5 cm mosquito fishes (Gambusia affinis) were collected from brooks of Baghdad university . This study aimed to identify the histological structure and embryonic development of the gas bladder . The results revealed that the gas bladder of the adult fish consists of single chamber, paraphysoclistous , and its wall consist of three layers. The primordium of the gas bladder appears in 2,5 mm fish embryo as an evagination from the right side of endoderm of foreguts wall. This primordium consists of two thecae, inner, is simple columnar epithelium and outer originates from undifferentiated mesoderm. Simultaneously with the appearance of gas gland in the ventral side of the sac in 4 mm embryo, morphological and histological changes have taken place for it. However the pneumatic duct protrude Change occurs in the site of pneumatic duct in 5mm embryo from the right side into dorsal right side of the forgut wall. In 7mm embryo , the wall of the gas bladder distinguish in to three layers and the endothelium of it consists of changeful epithelium (in 8<5mm embryo). The gas bladder of 10mm larva is a similar with that of adult fish . The endothelium of it changes to simple squamous epithelium except that of ventral side, and the gas bladder transform to paraphysoclistous

Abstract

This study is to evaluate plasma levels of several cytokines in preeclamptic pregnancies compared to those of healthy pregnancies. Ninety pregnant women with preeclampsia (37 mild & 53 severe) and thirty healthy pregnant women were enrolled in the study. Blood samples were taken and plasma levels of IL-8, IL-10, and IFN-γ were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Preeclamptic women and their severe cases but not mild cases had significantly (P<0.05) increased levels of plasma IL-8, and IFN-γ as compared with healthy pregnancies. By contrast, plasma levels of IL-10 was significantly (P<0.05) increased in healthy pregnant women as compared to all groups of preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is associated with an imbalance between pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-8, IFN-γ) and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-10), and these support our suggestion of altered immune response in preeclampsia.

Abstract

This study was designed to investigate the effect of thyroid hormone disturbance on lipids profiles and liver functions. Eighteen mature male rats Rattus norvegicus were divided into three groups. The first and the second groups were injected subcutaneously with thyroxine (T4) and carbimazol (both at 600 µg/kg BW) respectively on alternate days, to produce recurrent periods of hyper and hypothyroidism .The control group which is the third group was injected with physiological saline. The process continued 4 weeks, after that, injection, blood specimens were collected to estimate serum levels of T3 and T4, Total cholesterol (TC), Triglycerides (TG), High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), Low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and Very low density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL-C) were determined in the serum. In addition to that, we measure GOT, GPT and CPK enzymes activity. The results showed no significant difference in body weight and a significant increase (P<0.01) in liver weight of Thyroxine injected group, while Carbimazol injected group showed significant increase (P<0.05) in body and in liver weight. There was a significant decrease in TC concentration and there was no significant decrease in TG, HDL-C, LDL-C and VLDL-C concentration in the serum of Thyroxine injected group, while the Carbimazol injected group showed significant increase in serum TC, LDL-C, TG, HDL-C and VLDL-C concentration. The results also pointed to a significant increase in GOT and GPT activity, and no significant decrease in CPK activity in the serum of thyroxine injected group, in addition to a significant increase in GPT activity and a significant increase in GOT activity without any significant differences in CPK activity noticed in the liver homogenate of the same group. The results also pointed to a significant increase in GOT and GPT activity, and significant increase in CPK activity in the serum of Carbimazol injected group, with significant decrease in GOT activity, significant decrease in GPT activity and significant increase in CPK activity in the liver homogenate of the same group. Results of the liver histological study showed changes in the liver histological structure in both groups. An increasing in T3 and T4 levels led to a little expansion in the sinusoids and this might be due to accumulation of glycoprotein, also there was a centrilobular hepatocytes necrosis and congestion with RBCs in the sinusoids of central area due to hypoxia especially in perivenular hepatocytes area. In addition to extravasations of RBCs between the hepatocytes which are severely atrophied and some are necrosed. It was noticed that there is a direct relationship between low levels of T4 and T3 and the hepatic dysfunction which led to sinusoids expansion, granular and hydropic degeneration due to hepatocytes immunological or toxically damaged which gave the hepatocytes edema appearance.

Abstract

Rapid and accurate identification of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus is essential in limiting the spread of this bacterium. The aim of study is the detection of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and determining their susceptibility to some antimicrobial agent. A total of fifty clinical Staphylococcus aureus, isolated from the nose of health work staff in surgery unit of Kalar general hospital and from ear of patients attended to the same hospital. The susceptibilities of isolates were determined by the disc diffusion method with oxacillin (1 μg) and cefoxitin (30 μg), and by the mannitol salt agar supplemented with cefoxitin (MSA-CFOX), susceptibilities of isolates to other antimicrobial agent were determined by standard disc diffusion method, Brain heart infusion (BHI) agar with vancomycin was used for detection of vancomycin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. out of fifty clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus 36/50(72%) considered to be MRSA according to MSA-CFOX growth and cefoxitin disc susceptibility results with critical diameter<27 mm but 35/50(68%) considered to be MRSA when critical diameter ≤21 mm was depended, while according to oxacillin disc 29/50(58%) considered to be MRSA, all isolates showed good susceptibility to imipenem (100%) with different pattern of susceptibility to other antibiotics, 4/50(8%) showed non-susceptible to vancomycin and grew on BHI agar with supplemented vancomycin. high percentage of isolates were methicillin resistant and vancomycin reisitance occurs among them which may refer to irrational use of antimicrobial agent, thus, necessitate implementation of good strategies for control of infection and use of antibiotic. and to use of cefoxitin as screening agent for rapid detection of MRSA in microbiology laboratories.

Abstract

Tin oxide films (SnO2) of thickness (1 m) are prepared on glass substrate by post oxidation of metal films technique. Films were irradiated with Nd:YAG double frequency laser of wavelength (532 nm) pulses of three energies (100, 500, 1000) mJ. The optical absorption, transmission, reflectance, refractive index and optical conductivity of these films are investigated in the UV-Vis region (200-900) nm. It was found that the average transmittance of the films is around (80%) at wavelength (550 nm) and showed high transmission ( 90 %) in the visible and near infrared region. The absorption edge shifts towards higher energies, which is due to the Moss-Burstien effect and it lies at (4 eV). The optical band gap increased with increasing of energy.

Abstract

The objective of this work is to design and implement a cryptography system that enables the sender to send message through any channel (even if this channel is insecure) and the receiver to decrypt the received message without allowing any intruder to break the system and extracting the secret information. This work modernize the feedforward neural network, so the secret message will be encrypted by unsupervised neural network method to get the cipher text that can be decrypted using the same network to get the original text. The security of any cipher system depends on the security of the related keys (that are used by the encryption and the decryption processes) and their corresponding lengths. In this work, the key is the final weights that are obtained from the learning process within the neural network stage, So the work can be represented as an update or development for using the neural network to enhance the security of text. As a result for a powerful design, the resulted cipher system provides a high degree of security which satisfies the data confidentially which is the main goal of the most cryptography systems.
