This research examines the scholarly value of Uddatul Jalees in terms of the number of muwashahs it contains, what muwashahs were anthologized for the first time or in full, and what was attributed or unattributed. This research also examines the themes of muwashahs, makes a list of muwashahs by rhyme, discusses the distinct approach followed in the book, compares it with other sources of muwashahs, and discusses such poetic terms as kharja as well as misprision, and substantiates its conclusions with statistical tables.

Abstract The aim of study to be cognizant of spontaneous combustion rate for primary school's teachers in Al-Mahrah governorate Republic Of Yemen. The sample of study consists of 40 school's teachers from both sexes . to achieve the research objective, a questionnaire has been conducted consist of (45) clauses distributed on the dimensions of spontaneous combustion. Health dimension To make sure about the questionnaire's validity stability and it's application for study sample the research used Alfa lechroupakh equation predominant average and percentage as statistical methods. The findings have shown remarkable rate of spontaneous combustion for primary school's teachers in both primary and secondary areas. According to the study finding the researcher present a number of recommendations like the utilization of spontaneous combustion areas and clauses list as a diagnostic tool in recognizing of combustion level for the teachers in education sector and the need for setting up a program for tracking spontaneous combustion as well as prevention in all different stages of education and he suggests conducting researches that are similar to this research to recognize the spontaneous combustion rate that is coming out from teacher's performing in teaching of different educational levels and fields of specialization.

ABSTRACT This research aims at Knowing the effect of using using solving problems method in developing the notion of '' self '' in students of AL – Imamul Atham college in Quranic Sciences Subject. The researcher used the experimental model for two egual groups of the students. The first group was experimental and the other was the standard one to chech the results. The students wich were used for the test were (48) students in the first class. Group (A) was (25) students and group (B) was (23) students. It was charactevized by consistency and accuracy. The data were statistically analyzed by using T test and R:chardson equation for the tow independent group. The results showed that there is a statisticall difference between the results of the two group concerving the use of the first and the second tests in developing the notion of '' self ''. According to the results. the researcher preseited some recommendations and suggestion. The most outstanding recommendation was the necessity for including the method of solving problems in the traiving courses in teaching methods centreat Mosul university. the purpose for this is to acquainted with by all the lecturus of different fields to by utilized in the instruction field. Concerning the suggestions it was suggested to carry out a study about the effect of using solving problems methodin acquiring Islamic notions by student in the first class at interuediate schools.

Abstract This present study aims at identifying the relationship between the teaching styles used by male and female physics teachers and the pupil's motivation towards physics . The research sample focuses on the teachers and the pupil's of the scientific 5th-year in the secondary and preparatory school in Mosul (2010-2011). The research sample consists of ( 20) physics teachers: (10) males and (10) females . Furthermore, it consists of (400) taught by the teacher sample: (200) males (200) females . To achieve the goals of the study, two tools are constructed : The first tool is "Tuck man's Tool" . It consists of (28) items . The second one is a motivation scale towards physics constructed by Al-Hasnawi (2005) and adapted by Al-Suwaidi (2010) for the secondary stage . After applying the two tools collecting the data , and analyzing them statistically the study show the following results . 1. There is no statistical relationship between styles by male physics teachers and their male pupils motivation . 2. There is no statistical relationship between the teaching styles by female physics teachers and their female pupil's motivation towards physics.

Abstract This paper is centred on the notions of theme and rheme as a source for the organization of the clause as a massage. It builds on Halliday (1994) who conceives theme as a clause initial element. The paper is an attempt to show how the theme is identified in the English clause. English speakers and writers use the first position in the clause to convey information to the listener showing what the message is about. In English, the first position in the clause is occupied by a textual meaning because it shows the development of the message. The importance of the notion of theme stems from the fact that the flow of information in a sentence from theme to rheme is important to convey the message effectively. Themes, as will be clarified, fall into three types: the textual theme , the interpersonal theme , and the ideational theme.

ABSTRACT In this study the researcher intends to explain the phrasal verbs in the English language and their meanings which vary according to the context in which they occur, and the combinations of the verb with the particle. Besides, the researcher makes a test to be applied on the fourth year students of English language at Tikrit University, College of Education for women, English Department, to test their knowledge of the phrasal verbs and find out the problems that they may encounter in realizing and understanding the exact meaning of phrasal verbs. The number of the examined students are thirty eight examinees.

The Impact of Explicit Instruction on Developing Pragmatic Competence: a Focus on Refusal to Offers

ABSTRACT Interlanguage pragmatic (ILP) literature has less contributed to the understanding of how L2 pragmatic competence (PC) is developed. Additionally, previous research interested in developing PC through pedagogical intervention has been confined to rather small sets of speech acts such as requests and apologies but has overlooked others such as refusals. Accordingly, in an attempt to see how ILP stage is developed, the present study tries to investigate whether pragmatic transfer (PT) exists in the ILP stage when the Iraqi foreign language learners make refusals in the American context prior to any instruction, whether explicit instruction has relative effects on developing these learners’ refusal PC and whether incorporating an awareness raising (AR) perspective during the explicit instructional session makes them aware of the American refusal pragmalinguistic as well as the sociopragmatic aspects and more aware of the cross-cultural differences between both languages; i.e. Iraqi as the L1 and American as an FL so as to avoid any instance of pragmatic failure (PF). An eclectic communicatively oriented technique has been proposed to help delivering explicitly the L2 targeted speech act through activities involving description, explanation and practicing of the targeted feature in FL classroom setting. Forty-four Iraqi first-year college students studying in the department of English, College of Arts, University of Mosul were the subjects in the present study identically assigned to two groups: treatment and control groups. Three written Discourse Completion Tests (DCTs) were conducted . The findings obtained confirm that PT from Iraqi refusals did exist when the subjects made American refusals before any instruction. Explicit instruction did make effective development in the treatment subjects’ PC to approach the L2 native-like, and conducting AR procedure during the explicit instructional sessions did accelerate L2 pragmatic development.
