The present paper attempts to study and analyze this poem. The poem is one of AL-Jarrawi,s long poems; it contains (62) lines. Apart from other preceding poets, the poet halved the lines of the poem, and made them pentomic. In this sense, he deviated from the well-known standards of such an art at that time; it was known for the poets to use three halves of their own and two halves as pentomic conclusion usually quoted from other poets. In his deviant attempt, the poet used four halves of his own and a pentomic half taken from the Omru, AL-Qais. AL-Jarrawi organized his poem in accordance with the structure of the Arabic-western dictionary that is identical with the eastern one except the letter (ز) (z) and the following letters, where the two dictionaries become different in order. As for the content, the poem focuses basically on the elegy to Al-Hussein (He may Allah be pleased and have Mercy upon him); and hence, the personality of Al-Hussein is the focus of the poem from which the poet proceeds.

Flipping the classroom is emerging as a unique approach to improving learner retention and transfer, and making efficient use of class time. This article reviews the literature and research that offer evidence-based implications for its practice in higher education. The purpose of the article is to help higher education instructors maximize the learning experience, make data-driven decisions, and effectively shift accountability for learning in ways that improve learner outcomes. Emphasis is placed on aspects of flipping that situate it in the field of instructional design. The author describe specific strategies and tools for flipping using a three-stage framework for instructional design that involves learning in both asynchronous and synchronous environments. Readers will take away an understanding of effective practices and basic procedures and tools used to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate a flipped learning experience.

The Effectiveness of CoRT1(Breadth) Program in Developing the Achievement of 1st Year University Students in English Reading Comprehension

The present study aims at examining the effect of CoRT1(Breadth) in developing the achievement of college students in English reading comprehension. This study is limited to the first-year students in the department of English at the College of Education for Humanities/ University of Anbar during the first semester of the academic year 2015-2016. It also deals with the first section of CoRT program as an independent variable. To achieve the aim of the present study, it is hypothesized that there is no significant differences between the mean scores of the achievement of the first group who has been provided with CoRT1(Breadth) and the second group who has not provided with the same program. To verify the mentioned hypothesis, a sample of (51) first-year students from the department of English at the College of Education for Humanities/ University of Anbar has been randomly chosen and distributed to two treatment groups: experimental group (25) and control group (26). The students of both groups are equalized in terms of certain variables. The experiment has lasted six weeks during which the researcher himself has taught the two groups to control the teacher variable. At the end of the experiment, students have been subjected to an achievement test in reading comprehension which has been constructed by the researcher under the supervision of a number of instructors and specialists in this field. By using t-test formula for two independent samples, the findings have revealed that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean score of the two groups and it is in favour of the experimental group since its mean scores is higher than that of the control group. In the light of the findings obtained , the study ends with a number of conclusions and recommendations.

Investigating the Difficulties Faced by EFL Learners in Using Nonfinite Verbs

This study is mainly concerned with English nonfinite verbs as one of the common and essential process in the grammar of English on the one hand, and as a problematic area for English foreign language learners on the other hand. Nonfinite verb is any of several verb forms that are not finite verbs; that is, they cannot be as the root of an independent clause. Nonfinite verb forms stated in English are generally infinitives, -ing participles and -ed participles. This study aims at (1) Presenting a material about nonfinite verbs which can be of help to distinguish those types of verbs; (2) Investigating the ability of Iraqi EFL Learners to use nonfinite verbs at the recognition and the production levels and (3) Discovering the types and causes of errors which Iraqi EFL university learners commit in the use of nonfinite verbs. To achieve the aims stated above, the study hypothesizes that Iraqi EFL learners encounter difficulties in using nonfinite verbs due to various factors such as overgeneralization and Interlingual transfer. These hypotheses have been verified through adopting a diagnostic test of two questions. The first question is intended to measure the students’ performance at recognition level in which they are given complete sentences with two options and they have to identify whether the highlighted verbs are finite or nonfinite verbs. The second question is designed to measure the subjects’ performance at the production level. The test has been applied to a sample of 50 Iraqi EFL university learners at their fourth year from Departments of English, Colleges of Education for Humanity, Universities of Tikrit, during the academic year 2014 – 2015. Then the students’ responses have been collected and analyzed to draw the findings of this study.

Don DeLillo ( 1936- ) is one of the significant postmodern novelists. He deals with almost every significant postmodern concept in literature. His most postmodern novel White Noise focuses on meta concepts of media saturation, hyperreality, dystopia, capitalism, and cultural decline. White Noise is a realistic postmodern novel, since it exposes the hyperreality of the American world.This paper states the sharing insights of Baudrillard and Don DeLillo who are preoccupied with hyperreality, simulation, and media_dominated society, it will focus on the media theory itself , with its relationship with postmodern America. The paper is divided into two sections plus a conclusion. Section one presents an overview to the media theory and the concept of hyperreality. Section two will show the impact of technological mediations and the significance of the shopping centers on the rise of consumer culture. Then, the conclusion which sums up the findings of the research.
