Geographical distribution of blood banks in Diyala Province


Blood banks represent the human tributaries that provide patients with he/she needs of this sensitive material required for the continuation of life . With regard to the sensitive nature of blood in all processes of preparation , storing and burning , the health officials , like ministry of health , that are in charge of this critical matter has set a complete system of interrelated and integral institutions responsible of safeguarding this matter due to its criticality . This study aims at identifying the spatial significance of blood banks and its relation to the medical services they provide for patients by means of setting a questioning to a scientific problem which is , is Diyala Province in need of new blood banks ? Are these banks distributed in a way in concordance with their meant function ? Do they suffer insufficiency in their services and functional efficiency ? Therefore , this study emerges from the hypothesis that Diyala Province suffers from a deficiency in the medical services provided for its citizens , and that the distribution of blood banks over the various towns and cities is not in concordance with the number of residents in addition to the fact that blood banks themselves suffer from a lack in medical staff and material equipment . The study arrived at the following results :Blood banks are regarded one of the corner stones of main services systems in the construction of medical services in the governorate . They are indispensable as blood banks are the safe place to keeping this essential matter for humans and then distributing it according to highly firm norms that are globally, regionally and locally planned . Upon gauging the sufficiency of main blood banks, various pros and cons are noticed by the study in the field of subsidiary banks efficiency.Following up the results aims to find out solutions and treatments in order to improve blood banks and securing their needs to accomplish their allocated mission dexterously . The study identifies a number of recommendations targeting at improving the current status of blood banks by means of letting administrative health-officials know about these recommendations so that the geographer performs his spatial role in the distribution of blood banks specifically, and an academic notion in the management of medical services generally .
