Effect of Using Soaking, Germination and Cooking for Common Vetch Vicia Sativa Seeds on Growth Performance of Common Carp Cyprinus carpio L.

Abstract

This investigation was carried out to utilize common vetch Viciasativia in formulating diets for common carp Cyprinuscarpio L. with initial weights 69.28 g/fish had been distributed randomly over nine experimental diets, with three replication for each. The fish have been fed for 56 days on experimental diets which contained 30% and 45% of common vetch of total diets instead of 55% and 80% of soybean meal. Fish fed at diets contain that treated with soaking in water for 24 Hrs. (diet 2 and 3), 48 Hrs. (diet 4 and 5), soaking in water (48Hrs.) then germinated for 72 Hrs. (diet 6 and 7) and the last cooked (diet 8 and 9). The statistical analysis of data showed that there were no significant differences (P>0.05) among fed fish diet at 3rd , 4th and 8th in total weight gain ,weight daily gain ,relative growth rate ,specific growth rate ,and protein efficiency ratio with control diet. Where as the best food conversion ratio was obtained when fish fed at diet 2nd , 3rd and 4th which significantly differ (P> 0.05) for control and other diets.
