Effect of Seed Priming and Some Agricultural Operations in the Yield and it's Components of Bread Wheat(Triticum aestivum L.), Arass Variety Under Rain-fed Conditions in Sulaimaniyah Region

Abstract

Field experiment was carried out in Agricultural research station / Bakrajo / sulaymaniyah Governorate which was first location , the other location was in the field of Technical Agricultural collage / Halabja Governorate during 2014-2015 growing season . The objective was to investigate the effect of seed priming and some Agricultural treatments in yield and it's components of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Arass variety . the experiment was used (R.C.B.D) with three replicates which had three factors: exhibition factor which was in three treatment priming by Gibberellin(P1) , priming by Licorices roots as extract(P2) and Salicylic acid (P3) with the control treatment (P0). The second factor was planting dates which included three dates 27 Nov.( D1) , 9 Dec. ( D2) and 3 Jan.( D3) in Bakrajo , while the dates were in Halabja location (21 Nov ( D1) , 9 Dec.( D2) and 4 Jan. ( D3) while the third factor was sowing depth with two depths 4 cm (Z1) and 8 cm(Z2) . Results showed that Licorice roots extract (P2) surpassed in grain yield (4.49 and 4.18 ton/h.) for two location Bakrajo and Halapja respectively , and weight of 1000 grains in Bakrajo location only 39.46 g. and there was significantly exceeding in the first date of planting (D1) in grain yield (4.97 and 5.55 ton/h.) as a result of exceed in number of spikes/m2 (343.63 and 343.25 spikes/m2 ) and number of spikes/m2 (19.29 and 19.83) and weight 1000 grains (41.97 and 44.01 g) for two location Bakrajo and Halapja respectively . The interaction between priming by Licorice roots extract + salicylic acid (P3) was affected with planting depth 4 cm (Z2) in Bakrajo location only by significant exceed in number of spikelet trait/spike and weight of 1000 grain . The interaction between the first planting date (D1) and planting depth 4 cm (Z2) was significant in it's effect in Bakrajo location only and in weight of 1000 grains and grain yield . The triple interaction between priming by Gibberellin (P1) and first date of planting depth (Z2) caused significant effect in superiority of the traits : for two locations ( and number of spikelet/m2, weight of 1000 grains in Bakrajo location only) , while the interaction treatment between Licorice roots extract (P2) at the first planting date (D1) and planting depth (Z2) was high rate for grain yield in Bakrajo location while there was the highest average of grain yield at 8 cm depth (Z2) in Halabja location. Results from this study indicated that seed priming can used as Licorice roots extract only or addition with salicylic acid to increase yield and it's components of bread wheat especially for late sown in rain-fed conditions of Iraq.
