A simulation Model to Study Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Welded by Laser.

Abstract

Laser welding was well spayed in industrial application of joining polymers. A FEM was adopted to simulate welding process of two similar polypropylene pieces in 3-D. Steady-state and transient module is analyzed intern of polypropylene polymer thermal and mechanical properties. The obtained numerical results were show small region of material were affected by thermal is about (6.4mm), while the penetration depth shows important to be (2.5mm) compare to usual methods. Finally, the study observed that the stress, and strain were have low values, about (0.181E+09mMPa), (0.171295%).
