Taxonomy and it's role in organizing information in the digital environment

Abstract

This paper discusses taxonomy as one method of organizing Compilation, classification and availability of knowledge and information on the Internet. It addresses the concept of taxonomy, its functions, and types of content; this comprises its theoretical aspect. Its aim is to clarify that the great increase in the amount of accessible information on the Internet has led to the need to develop tools and methods for organizing this information; that is, this information needs to be available for web users via search and retrievable in a systematic and rapid manner. With the development of Internet applications, tools and techniques compatible with the nature of electronic resources must be developed. This development includes the elements of all activities related to information organization, the tools used in such activities, and the retrieval tools in the final stage of information organization.
