Abstract
This paper studies the presence of the other in Iraqi poetry in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries on the light of cultural criticism .Due to the development of cultural studies fields , cultural criticism and comparative cultural criticism , the concept of the other has become the most present concept in the modern writings . It has become a central issue in most of political , economic , intellectual , cultural and critical studies all over the world .Through wandering among Iraqi poetry collections , we have found that the image of the other has been formed in tow images : positive and negative , so this paper has three matters . the first matter has included the concept of the other linguistically and idiomatically . The second matter has included the transfiguration of the positive image of the other in eulogy and lamentation . The third matter has included the presence of the negative image of the other in the political and social satire .
