EFFECT OF MAGNETIZATION OF DIFFERENT WATER QUALITIES ON CONSUMPTION OF WATER AND WATER USE EFFICIENCY FOR BARLEY CROP (Hordeum vulgare L.)

Abstract

Abstract :Field experiments was conducted at the Research Station Collegeof Agriculture, University of Basra at Garmat Ali district. The experiments werecarried out during the winter season 2012-2013 in clay loam soil. The purpose ofthe research is to study the effect of magnetization and the quality of irrigationwater on consumption of water and water use efficiency for Barley crop (Hordeumvulgare L.).The experiments treatments Included magnetization of irrigationwater, non-magnetized water (M0) and water magnetized (M1). The irrigationwater quality treatment included five types of water namely, tap water (TW) ,River Khrtarad (RW) , wastewater (WW) ,treated sewage passed through sandyfilter (WWT) and mixed water (MW) ( 50% RW + 50% WWT ).The experimentswere conducted using factorial experiments according to randomized completeblock design (RCBD) . The irrigation water was added depends up on the basis ofthe shortfall in the level of water in the evaporation basin installed in the field. Theamount of water added was 100% of the amount vaporized plus 20% as leachingrequirements. The results showed that :The magnetized irrigation water reducedthe actual water consumption and increased the efficiency of water use for barleycrop on basis of biological yield or grain yield compared with non-magnetizedwater. The effect of the water quality treatments on the above parameters takenthe following order WW > TW >WWT > MW > RW.
