The Effect of Using the Discussion Method on the Attainment of the Students of Art Education Department in the Subject of Child Theatre

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the effect of using the discussion method on the attainment of the students of Art Education Department in the subject of child theatre. The researcher adopted the experimental methodology with two group design (control and experimental) with a posttest to achieve the aims of the study. The sample of the study consisted of the students of the Department of Art Education in the academic year 2016-2017. The sample was randomly distributed into two groups. The first one is the experimental group that consisted of 10 students who studied using discussion method, while the second one is the control group that consisted of 10 students who studied using the conventional method. The researcher prepared a cognitive test consisted of 20 multiple choice items that were examined considering validity, quality, and reliability. The study found that there is more positive effect of the discussion method on the subject of child theatre than using the conventional method in teaching the same subject.
