Methodology of Interpretative Criticism As Adopted by Imamain Askariyain A Reading in the Solutions of Intellectual Problems

Abstract

Interpretative criticism indicates the reading process for the interpretative data of a single text in terms of preponderance or attenuation, ambivalence or establishment according to the strength of logic, logic preponderance, solidity of evidence and chain of authority, due to the fact that the heritage of interpretation may not be beyond criticism or without points of weakness that welcome readers or recipients to address or make corrections. This method of Quranic reading is not an outcome of contemporary knowledge at all. And it is not a modern technique for text examination either. This methodology of/for interpretation had already been adopted by the Imams, for more than one Imam applied it illustratively, as they believed that disclosing the miraculous text does not stop at explaining the text in terms of meanings or the limitability of the single text. The issue goes so far as to sometimes employ more than one text, not only to uncover the oratorical contents or the linguistic values of the first text, but also to provide a remedy and find a logical solution for an external problem that is still in a bad need of a final decision about its contents. This will be explained through many statements given by Imamain Askariyain in the exegesis of Holy Quran. From this point, this study will set out with aim of giving answers to hypotheses and evidences where Imamain Askariyain followed this method in reading the text; and what is true for them is true for the rest of Imams of Ahlulbayt.
