Abstract

Desertification of the natural manifestations, which have a negative impact on the marshes in southern Iraq, which is characterized by a sensitive and unstable ecosystem in the low productive capacity of the land and a change in the natural characteristics of the land and the conditions surrounding the marshes as a result of imbalance and loss of natural balance such as the basic components of the environment of plants, soil and climate under direct influence Direct human activity is inadequate and the interaction of natural conditions characterized by drought and high temperatures, as well as the amounts of salt carried by Iraq's rivers. Therefore, salt water has become one of the main problems experienced by the marshes, which are characterized by permanent drought and low land and salt water leakage from the surrounding fictional lands, in addition to lack of clear planning and continuous and effective follow-up to maintain and maintain a certain level of water in the marshes. Therefore, the need to develop long-term plans and start implementing them without delay on scientific basis and management with a high level of efficiency and ability to apply various means and to consider the development of the marshes as an integrated process.
