SPATIAL VARIATIONS OF DISABLES IN SALAH AL-DIN GOVERNORATE FOR THE YEAR 2000 AND 2017

Abstract

The Population Geography in the present times is varied and carries new directions of studies. Some of these studies are suffered by specific type of population especially the type that is marginalized in society. This type of population is called disables. The problem of the present study is that there are high ranks of disables in the area of study during the years 2000 and 2017.The research significance is to clarify the scientific foundations and the procedures that should be taken by the society and the administrative authorities to take care of the disables at the time when the number of disabled population reached to (5875) creating 0, 6% of the population in the study area and 2.4% of the population in Iraq and this number rose to 49862 representing 3, 2% of the population in Salahaddin governorate and ranked 12th of the governorates in Iraq except for the Regional governorates of Kurdistan. The number of the disabled population now represents 3.3% of the population in the governorate for the same year and most of them did not get the health and mental care from the responsible authorities while the percentage that covered by the salaries of social protection is 38% of the total. s
