Abstract

During 2018, a study has been carried out to determine the distribution of aliphatic hydrocarbons in the sediment of five locations in Al-Hammar marsh which are (Lusan Harer, Almusahab, Almultaka, Alnakara and Alburka) respectively. Analyses were done for the determination of N-alkanes concentrations by using gas chromatography. The total n-alkane concentration ranged between (6.176) μg/g dry weight at (Alburka) to (8.835) μg/g dry weight recorded at (Almusahab). The main sources of N-alkanes were anthropogenic according to CPI, while the sources according to pristine/phytane were pyrogenic value at all sites.
