Synthesis and Characterization of Conducting Polymer Poly(O- Toluidine) - DBSA Blend with Poly(Ethylene Oxide) for Solar Cell Application

Abstract

Poly(O-Toluidine) (POT) doped with Dodycyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (DBSA)was synthesized by chemical polymerization method using ammonium persulphat(NH4)2 S2O8 as oxidizing agent. This polymer blended with two different weightratios (10%, 80%) of Poly (Ethylene Oxide) (PEO) by spin coating method toproduce Nano conducting poly blend (POT-DBSA/PEO). The chemical structureof prepared polymers (POT-DBSA, PEO) were characterized by the FTIR spectra.Morphology and diameters were studied by Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). Theaverage diameter was about 85nm for (10%wt PEO concentration) and increasedwith increasing concentration to (120) nm for 80%wt PEO concentration for solarcell application of (POT-DBSA/PEO). It is noted that the short circuit currentdensity Jsc increased from (3-5.25) mA/cm2 and the efficiency also increasedfrom (0.46) to (1.58) when the PEO ratio was increasing from 10% to 80% in theactive layer mixture.
