Incidence of coccidia in Iraqi camels

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and seasonal distribution of Eimeria species in camels (Camelus dormedarius) fecal samples of 328 camels slaughtered, were examined for Eimeria spp. by flotation method from May, 1988 to Feb., 1989. It was found that 64 camles 19.5% were infected with Eimeria spp: E. dromedarii, E. bactriani, E. pellerdyi, E. cameli, E. rajasthani. These results showed that the infection rate was high in spring 55% and low in summer 11.22%.
