HOMEOSTASIS AND GENOTYPIC RESULTANT STUDIES FOR HYBRIDS OF MAIZE

Abstract

Evaluation of six hybrids of maize for stability, homeostasis and its response for kernels yield at four environments (Erbil, Duhok, Sulaimani and Kalar). The experiments conducted during autumn season 2016.The analysis of variance results shows that mean square of plant and ear height, row ear-1 and 300 kernel weight showed significant differences among hybrids at all locations. Duhok location give the highest means for plant height 230.056 cm, row ear-1 17.53 and grain yield 8.96 ton ha-1. Combining analysis showed significant differences for locations, hybrids and genotype × environment interaction. Most hybrids manifested high homeostasis 85% for the characters plant and ear height, row ear-1 and 300 kernel weights except Draghma had lower homeostasis for plant and ear height and (5012Xkr640) had lower homeostasis for 300 kernel weight. The yields were having low and not stable in different environments.
