Isolation and identification of fungi associated with poultry feeds in Kadisia governorate and detection of aflatoxin B1- Producing by strains of Aspergillus flavus

Abstract

The results of the detection of the fungi associated with six poultry feed samples from different locations in Kadisia revealed that the feed samples varied in the isolated fungi and the percentage of occurrence and the frequency of isolation and total fungal load. The following fungi were recorded:.,Aspergillus flavipes, Asp.flavus, Asp.fumigatus, Asp.niger, Cladosporium cladosporioids and Mucor. The genus Aspergillus recorded the highest percentage of occurrence (98.58%) in sample Kh6and the species A.niger recorded the highest percentage of occurrence in sample Kh6 (94.33%). The genus Mucor come in the next which recorded the highest percentage of occurrence in sample Kh2 ( 44%). Sample Kh4 recorded the highest total fungal load (390 x 106 cfu) while sample Kh3 recorded the lowest total fungal load (0.27 x 106cfu ).The results of toxigenic activity of 4 isolates of Asp.flavus showed that only 3 of them have toxigenic activity, and isolate Kh4 was the most toxigenic than other isolates.
