Peaceful Coexistence, in point of view of Quraan and the Seerah of the Holy Prophet (SAAS)

Abstract

One of the characteristics of Islam is establishment of unity, brotherhood and peace among the members of society, so the life of different people in Islamic society is based on peaceful coexistence. Peaceful coexistence enjoys principles and methods whose recognitio will make it easier for us to achieve the goal of coexistence. As such, some of these principles such as equality of nations and the principles of ethical behaviour toward others, or the fulfillment of promise are investigated from the perspective of the Qur'an and the Seerah. The question now is whether the Islamic view regarding relations and cooperations with non-Muslims and foreign societies - which have different intellectual, social and cultural principles and patterns - can be accepted as a rule of peaceful coexistence. Within a framework of a descriptive-analytical research and using qualitative method, while taking advantages of the principles, methods and religious teachings, the study attempts to prove the hypothesis that peaceful coexistence from the perspective of Quran and Prophetic tradition enjoys originality. The research hypothesis is that for all human beings the peaceful coexistence as a pragmatic narrative is the command of Qur'an. The only exceptions are those who are at war with Muslims or have started the war and those who have severely oppressed weak people and deprived them of their fundamental freedoms and rights. The achievements of the article shows that peaceful coexistence is effective in social relations, heart relationship, comradeship and tolerance, and is emphasized by Islam
