Abstract

Animal products are considered one of the most important basics of agricultural production, as people rely upon them heavily for the population’s food needs and in meeting their other needs, such as using them as a raw material in some necessary industries such as leather and clothing industries. Therefore, studies focus on livestock and their spatial distribution and variability have received the interests of most researchers in various fields. The research aims to study the spatial variation of livestock, in particular livestock animals (sheep, cows and goats) in Erbil Governorate, and the study took the variation of natural and human factors between the various districts of this province as a basis for spatial variation in it. Where livestock is considered one of the resources that its spatial existence is linked to specific geographical phenomena, and the research tried to prove this by relying on data that showed the distribution of livestock in the study area. The research includes four main topics, in addition to the conclusion and the recommendations. The first topic studies the definition of the study area and its geographical characteristics. The second topic, it focuses on the food sources of livestock in the governorate. The third topic, studies the reality of the geographical distribution of livestock in the governorate and their spatial disparity.
