The Role of Electronic Media in Promoting Political Alienation in Iraqi Society

Abstract

This research came to shed light on the role of electronic media in promoting political alienation in Iraqi society for a sample of Iraq’s governorates, namely (Baghdad, Dhi Qar, Kirkuk). The research problem was represented in the main question (What is the role of electronic media in promoting political alienation in Iraqi society), and a set of sub-questions that cover aspects of the research branched out. The research aims to monitor the role of electronic media in promoting political alienation, the electronic means to which the respondent went, and to identify the manifestations, dimensions and types of political alienation. This research is a descriptive research that is based on discovering and describing the phenomenon and knowing the relationship between its variables. And it depended on the survey method and the researcher used the case study method and the questionnaire tool. The sample is 469 subjects. The research was divided into frameworks (methodological, theoretical, and field). And I reached conclusions, the most prominent of which is the following (the latest electronic media has fundamental changes in the life of the Iraqi citizen and is considered the citizen's destination to learn about events and political life, especially the Iraqi one, and that alienation is a scourge of the digital age in all its dimensions and types).
