Effect of Glutamic acid spraying on growth, yield, and yield components of several varieties of bread wheat Tritium aestivum L

Abstract

A field experiment was carried out during 2019/2020 winter season attwo locations. The first one was conductedatthe Field Crops DepartmentResearch Station/ College of Agriculture/ Tikrit University, whilethe secondwas conducted at one of the farmers’ field of Al Mazraa village thatlocated in Baiji district/ Salah Al-Deen Governorate, to study the effectof two concentrations of glutamic acid 0 and 200 mg.l-1 on the growth, yield, and yield components for several varieties of bread wheat. The resultsshowed that the spraying treatment with glutamic acid was superiorin the total grain yield trait by two averages 2.86 and 4.22 comparedwith the non-addition treatment, which reached 2.61 and 3.68tons.h-1 atthe two studied locations, respectively. The cultivars were differed significantlyin the most studied traits, where the Tammoz 2 variety gavethe highest rate of total grain yield that reached 3.48 and 4.00tons.h-1 inboth studied locations, respectively.
