Spatial analysis of containerized cargo transportation in Iraqi ports for the period ( 2011 - 2020 )

Abstract

This study focused on the impact of geographical location and natural ingredients on the possibility of developing the five Iraqi ports and upgrading them to the ranks of international ports that accompanied the process of containerization of goods due to its competitive advantages that can attract marine units that turned to this type of transport with a statement of the reasons that led to the decline Al-Maqal and Abu Flus ports, despite the fact that the first is considered the first nucleus of the ports of Iraq, and it was at the time considered one of the first ports in the Arab Gulf region, despite the tendency of the General Company for Ports of Iraq to follow the method of joint operation of its ports .
