The Effect of Noise Pollution on Auditory Health for Workers in the Industrial Workshops at Basra City: An Environmental – Clinical Study

Abstract

This study aims at a scientific examination of the effect of noise pollution for a sample of workers in industrial workshops in Basra city. The study was conducted during the period from December 2020 to April 2021, in which a Lutron SL-4013 sound meter was used to measure environmental noise, and medical examination devices such as the Pureton Audio Metry and Typon Metry were used. Clinical medical examinations were conducted on a volunteer sample of 24 workers working in the studied industrial workshops. These workshops included: blacksmithing, carpentry, tin work, aluminum works, turning, and plumbing. The studied workshops were distributed across 6 municipal sectors within the study area.
