The Historical Dimension of the Phenomenon of Slavery in Civilizations and among the Arabs before Islam

Abstract

The research deals with the phenomenon of slavery and shows that this phenomenon is rooted in ancient times, its history is the same as the history of exploitation and man’s oppression towards his fellow man. The phenomenon of slavery and servitude arose from ancient times, and slavery became a basic system in the life of all ancient nations. The class disparity divided human groups into sections, and the slave class was considered one of the lowest classes of ancient societies. The research showed a number of things that should have been shed light on, including the human dependence on this class in various aspects of life, such as social, economic and military. The research also touched upon the most important sources for obtaining slaves, as well as the most important duties that slaves used to perform. It also deals with the types of slaves used in those civilizations and among pre-Islamic Arabs. Then showed the treatment that each civilization dealt with slaves
