Urban planning and its impact on reducing crime - an analytical study of the city of Baquba.

Abstract

The topic of the research revolves in the field of urban planning science, as it tries to identify how social behavior is spatially profiled, that is, urban planning programmed it for the requirements of deviant behaviors. A good design of the urban environment is one of the basic things in reducing crime and achieving security, despite that, security issues and crimes rarely receive sufficient attention in the initial stage of the urban planning process, as it is the repeated planning experiences that led many critics to not hesitate to issue their judgments negative on this area. Therefore, this study seeks to address a common problem in cities, especially Iraqi cities, by clarifying the role of urban planning in reducing crime in residential neighborhoods, by understanding spatial, economic and social factors and their effective role in planning a safe residential environment.
