ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF STENOTROPHOMONAS MALTOPHILIA AND THE EFFECT OF ITS INTERACTION WITH THE APPLICATION METHODS OF VERMICOMPOST TEA AND MINERAL FERTILIZER ON THE GROWTH OF SQUASH PLANT (CUCURBITA PEPO L.) AND PAPER CONTENT FROM NPK

Abstract

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was isolated and diagnosed for the first time in Iraq from the roots soil of different plants grown in the fields of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences of the University of Baghdad, the diagnosis included the study of the agricultural, microscopical and biochemical characteristics as well as diagnosis with Vitek 2 System of this bacteria and the estimation of its phosphate dissolution index. A field experiment was carried out in one of the fields of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences of the University of Baghdad using a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications in order to study the interaction between inoculation with S. maltophilia with four application methods of vermicompost tea (without application, ground application, foliar spray, combination of -ground application + foliar spray) and two levels of mineral fertilizer (0% and 50%) From the approved fertilizer recommendation with the use of two fertilizer recommendations, which were 100% according to the different source of phosphate mineral fertilizer and with three replicates and their effect on some vegetative growth traites and the concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium for the vegetative part after the end of the field experiment of squash plant. The results of isolation and diagnosis showed that four bacterial isolates belong in characteristics to S.maltophilia and the efficiency of the isolates differed in their ability to dissolve phosphate, as the values of the phosphate solubility coefficient of the isolates ranged between 3 to 4.53. The results of the field experiment showed that the application of S. maltophilia with the combination addition of vermicompost tea and 50% of the mineral fertilizer, gave the highest values for plant length, number of leaves in plant-1, leaf area and chlorophyll content in leaves it recorded values of 75.13 cm, 37.80 leave plant-1, 76.51 cm2, 105.03 spad, respectively. The values of nutrient concentrations in the vegetative part were (2.56% N, 0.5% P, 2.40% K) compared to the control treatment. Which gave the lowest averages for all the above-mentioned characteristics and also, most of the triple interference treatments outperformed the two comparison treatments, the complete fertilizer recommendation, in all of these characteristics.
