The intellectual dimension of religious extremism in Iraq after 2003

Abstract

The issue of extremism of all kinds and forms is still raised in the current era after it is one of the most important dilemmas faced by contemporary societies without exception, and Arab and Islamic societies suffer from it in general, and Iraqi society after the American occupation in 2003 in particular, without excluding other societies from it, as extremism exists in all religions, not being part of these religions, but from those who follow the monotheistic religions.In addition to the fact that extremism is caused by wrong policies and practices that contributed to its rootedness in society, it is employed in achieving the interests of groups, based on any groups that adopt extremism right and that others are wrong, and in Iraq after the overthrow of the former regime and as a result of the chaos that resulted from the war on Iraq in 2003, which contributed to the spread of extremist intellectual currents, extremist groups took advantage of religion to mobilize people, which resulted in sectarian conflicts that led to the loss of many lives Citizens.
