Abstract

AbstractIn vitro tests were carried out to investigate the efficacy of equals extracts of watery chilli pepper and pomegranate fruit’s shells on the trophozoites of G.lamblia grown in HSP-1 medium at 37 oC. Different Concentrations of (0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1 mg/ml) of pepper and granatum watery extracts were added to 12106 trophozoite/ ml of G. lamblia and incubated for 24 hrs at 37 oC. Results showed that mortality percentage of trophozoites treated with pepper extract were (24.84, 41.35, 62.66, 74.32 and 97.83%) respectively. These percentages were close to those obtained from the treatment with pomegranate fruit’s shells extract which were (19.53, 30.85, 42.26, 62.59 and 92.24%) respectively. These results showed that both watery extracts of pepper and pomegranate fruit’s shells at concentration (0.5 and 1 mg/ml) had better effect in killing G. lamblia trophozoites.
