A survey for birds society at Abu Zerik marsh , South of Iraq

Abstract

A survey for water birds species at Abu Zerik Marsh was implemented monthly during the period from August 2008 until July 2009 . The survy showed the presence of 38 species of water birds at Abu Zerrik marsh . Ralliformes rank was represented in 6 species .The Gallinula chloropus was represented the most abundant highest during the period of the study was 1390 individual for three stations . And the Podicipediformes was including the Tachybaputs ruficollis . The rank of Peleconiformes was represented in three species . The Phalacro corax pygmeus was recorded the lowest abundant from the other kindes of water birds . Including the rank of Ciconiiformes , the family of the heron . (Ardeidae) waqs represented in 5 species . The rank of Anseriformes was represented in species while the rank of Caradrii Sub order that including the family of represented 3 species . The Sub Laridae was represented 3 species . The rank of Coraciiformes was included in 3 species . The rank of Passeriformes had seen in 6 families . And it was recorded the highest abaundant for all water birds in December about 2260 individuals and the lowest abundant for water birds was recorded in July about 196 individuals .
