NEW DESIGN OF FLOW INJECTION ANALYSIS UNIT USING ( CE4++ I-+ H3O+) SYSTEM FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CERIUM(IV) BY MERGING ZONE TECHNIQUE .

Abstract

The aim of this work was to design a new flow injection analysis unit for the determination of cerium(IV) by the reaction of potassium iodide with Ce4+ in an acidic medium to released I2 which have yellow color and give a λmax in 351 nm. The method involves the design of a new valve from cheap material and select the best design for unit .The optimum condition such as acid concentration , flow rate, potassium iodide concentration, acid volume, sample volume, reaction coil length, and interference effects were studied. Beer's law is obeyed over concentration rang (1- 40 mg/l), correlation coefficient(R2) was 0.998.
