Effect Of Seed Soaking With Pyridoxine And Foliar Application Of Boron On Growth, Yield, And Yield Components Of Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.)

Abstract

A field Experiment was conducted at a farm located in Al- Dora region - Baghdad –Iraq during the winter season of 2003-2004.The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of seed soaking in different conc. of Pyridoxine (0, 5oo, 1000, 3000 mg/l) and foliar application with different conc. of Boron (0, 50, 100, 150 mg/l) at booting stage on growth , yield and components of wheat (var. IPA 95).Layout of the experiment was a split plot in a R.C.B.D with three replications . pyridoxine conc. were used as main plot , while Boron conc. were used as a sub-plot . Results showed that increase of pyridoxine conc. More than 500 mg/L resulted in a significant increasement of LAI, plant height, flag leaf area, yield components, seed yield and harvest index. Foliar application of Boron at high conc. 150 mg/L resulted in a significant increasment in all growth parameters, yield and yield components , biological yield and harvest index. Significant interaction between pyridoxine and Boron conc. On seed yield showed that it can be obtain high seed Yield (6.24 t/ha) when seeds of wheat soaking in Pyridoxine at conc.1000 mg/L for 24 hours before planting and spraying the plants at booting stage with Boron at conc. 150 mg/l.
