Chelating ion exchangeproperties of these terpolymerswere studied for Hg2+, Cd2+and Pb2+metal ions uptake. A batchequilibrium method was employed in the study of selectivity anddistribution of a given metal ions between the polymersample anda solution containing the metal ion. The study was carried outover a pH range of 5-7 and in a media of various ionic strengths.Cadmium and Lead were determined by means of AtomicAbsorbtion Spectrophotometry, while Mercury was determinedspectrofluorometry by adopting the method of Mudakavi whichmodified by Al-Imarahet al., The polymer showed ahigherselectivity for the removal of these ions in the followingorderPb2+>Hg2+>Cd2+ ions.
