Synthesized nanoparticles were characterizedusing UV–Vis spectrophotometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), ScanningElectron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM),and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The XRD pattern of the synthesizedsample was indexed as. UV–Vis spectrophotometer indicated that the peakof absorption spectra of bismuth nanoparticles located in UV-region (230nm) and increased towards IR region with increase laser energy and laserwavelength. SEM and TEM exhibited spherical shape of bismuthnanoparticles with decrease in particles size with decreasing laserwavelength. The antibacterial activity was tested against Enterobacter andProteus (gram-negative bacteria) and Streptococcus and Staphylococcusaureus (gram-positive bacteria). Synthesized bismuth nanoparticlesexhibited inhibitory effect on both bacteria strains with best selectivityagainst Enterobacter and Proteus (gram-negative bacteria).
