The concept of thetransverse resonant method which is used for the transmissionlines is utilized for modeling the proposed slot antenna. A PINdiode is used to switch the antenna operating band from thelower unlicensed indoor 5GHz WLAN band (5-5.3) GHz to theupper one (5.7-5.9) GHz and vice versa. Another PIN diode isattached to the feed line to provide suitable matching stublength for each operation mode. Furthermore, the shape of theradiating slot of the proposed antenna is modified to providean omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H-plane suitablefor the portable gadgets of the WLAN system. Themeasurements are in well agreement with the simulatedresults, and they verify the precision of the suggested modeland the enhanced matching characteristics for the twooperation modes of the proposed antenna
