Murbat AU - Nada Sabah Rezouqi PY - 2017 VL - 7 IS - 4 SP - 238 EP - 248 JO - Journal of Education for Pure Science مجلة التربية للعلوم الصرفة SN - 20736592 AB - Abstract:The sterilization of candida albicans yeast was done by using atmospheric pressure non thermalargon plasma, the plasma jet system was used for this purpose with following operations conditions:the discharge voltage was (8) kV, with frequency (22) kHz and argon gas flow (3) l/min.This study included obtaining clinical isolate of C.albicans yeast which diagnosed initiallyaccording to its colonies appearance on SDA as a a smooth, creamy and mucosa colonies , while itcharacterized by a production of Pseudohyphae and the presence of chlamidospores on CMA, also ithas the ability to grow at 45 C , positive to germ tube production , Gram positive oval shape cells .This study also included investigation the inhibitory effect of cold plasma at different periodsof time on the yeast isolate growth, where the results obtained did not show any effect of coldplasma on the growth of the yeast during the first stage of exposure in seconds comparing to controlwhile it was noted a decrease in growth when increasing the exposure time to minute during thesecond phase of treatment till yeast growth entirely down to zero when the exposure period reached10 minutes, also This study was Investigated the inhibiting efficiency of cold plasma exposure onthe ability of C.albicans yeast isolate to produced germ tube before and after exposure to a nonthermalplasma where the results showed increased in the inhibition percentage of yeastgermination along with increased time of exposure from 59 % at exposure time 6 min down to 96%when the exposure time 9 min compared with the control,but the exposure to a non-thermal plasmadid not demonstrated demonstrated any morphological changes in yeast cells and their acceptance ofstaining compared to the control not treated with cold plasma .
