صيام عشر ذي الحجة –وهي التسعة- مُستحبَّة استحبابًا شديًدا، لا سيما التاسع منها وهو يوم عرفة؛ وهو قول أكثر العلماء أو كثير منهم؛ وذلك أنَّ الصوم يدخل في جملة العمل الصالح. أمَّا عدم صيامه صلى الله عليه وسلم، فيحتمل أن يكون ذلك لكونه كان يترك العمل وهو يحب أن يعمله خشية أن يفرض على أمته؛ أو لأنَّه كان إذا صام ضعف عن أن يعمل فيها ما هو أعظم منزلة من الصوم، وإن كان هناك اختلاف في إسناد الحديث فمرة روي مسندأ، ومرة روي مرسلاً، والصواب المسند.} }
