This led to the spread of commercial markets in the cities and the flow of goods and money from the lands. Trade in the markets influenced the development of the Levantine society. It opened the door to work and attracted labor to them. لقد شهدت الدولة الإسلامية وبخاصة في العصر الأموي، تطورًا حضاريًا في مختلف الميادين؛ السياسية، والاقتصادية، والاجتماعية، والثقافية، والعمرانية. كما تطورت فيها النظم الإدارية ومؤسساتها، ولعل الاستقرار السياسي في بلاد الشام الذي حدث بعد انتقال الخلافة إلى دمشق كان له كبير الأثر في الأسواق وفي نشاط الحياة الاقتصادية في بلاد الشام، وأدى ذلك إلى انتشار الأسواق التجارية في المدن وتدفق السلع والأموال من الأمصار إليها، وقد أثرت التجارة في الأسواق في تطور المجتمع الشامي؛ إذ فتح باب العمل فيها وجذبت الأيدي العاملة إليها، ووجد أهل الريف من حول هذه المدن مجالاً لتصريف إنتاجهم الزراعي وبيعه فيها، ونشطوا في زراعتهم لتلبية حاجاتها من المواد الغذائية والتموينية، كما نشطت تبعا لذلك حركة التجارة الداخلية، وأسهمت أسواق بلاد الشام على نحوٍ كبير في تصنيع كثير من السلع، مثل: الزجاج، والمنسوجات، والنحاس، والزيت، وغير ذلك، وقد صدر الكثير منها إلى الأسواق الداخلية التي تقل فيها مثل هذه السلع يهدف البحث إلى دراسة دور الأسواق في الحياة الاقتصادية في العصر الأمويتضمن البحث عدة محاور منها الأسواق في العصر الأموي تخصص الأسواق، أهمية مدينة حلب من الناحية الاقتصادية، أسواق مدينة منبج، أسواق مدينة القدس، أسواق مدينة الرملة والخليل، الأسواق الأخرى في بلاد الشام، استعمال النظام النقدي في الحياة الاقتصادية في العصر الأموي، النشاط الصيرفي في أسواق بلاد الشام، استخدام النقود والصكوك في التعامل التجاري، المكاييل والموازين في تنظيم العاملات التجارية في بلاد الشام، المحتسب في أسواق بلاد الشام، الخاتمة والمصادر والمراجع.
