The po-tential of biomolecules present in plant extracts to reduce metal ions to NPs in a singleestep green synthesis process is veryimportant. In this study, we have reported the synthesis of silver nanoparticles by reducing the silver ions present in the solution ofsilver nitrate by the cell free aqueous extract ofCapparis spinosaleaves. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were successfully syn-thesized usingC.spinosaextract and the nature of synthesized nanoparticles was analyzed by UVeVis spectroscopy, transmissionelectron microscopy, Xeray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The antimicrobial effect of NPs producedC.spinosawas studied using different pathogenic bacteria such asEscherichia coli,Salmonella typhimurium,Staphylococcus aureusand Bacillus cereus. From the disc diffusion results, the synthesized silver nanoparticles showed an excellent antibacterial propertyand a high antimicrobial activity compared to the ionic silver.
