However, most of the language instructors and methodologists regard this method as useless and out-of-date. Indeed dictation is a teaching technique which enables English teachers to focus on the language proficiency of their students . This paper explains what the teachers should do to help the students enhance enthusiasm and confidence for learning , stimulate learning motivation , reduce or eliminate their difficulty and take measures to improve their own language skills . This paper aims at investigating the relationship between mastery of dictation and university students' achievement in spelling which in order to raise students' efficiency in vocabulary and texts.
