The aim of study was todetermine the effect of the added manure ( cattle residues ) levels (0 , 20 , and40 ton ha-1 ) , the depth of manure application ( 10 , 20 and 30 cm ) , and themethod of manure application ( mixing with soil and subsoil laying method ) onsoil salinity and soil pH . The manure was added at certain treatments by using aditch opener and manure laying machine which was designed and manufacturedin the Agriculture Machines and Equipment Dept. , Coll. of Agric. Univ. ofBasrah in 2015 . The field was plowed perpendicularly , and the treatments werearranged in RCBD with split-split plot design . Each treatment was 3 replicatedusing drip irrigation system . Corn ( Zea mays L. ) seeds were planted on themanure rows . All plots received NPK fertilization at the same levels . At theend of growing season , soil samples ( 0 – 30 cm ) were collected to examinedsoil salinity and soil pH . The results showed that the manure levels hadsignificant effect on soil salinity and pH . Manure level of 40 ton ha-1 recordedthe lowest values for EC and pH , the values are 4.63 dS m-1 and 7.97 ,respectively compared with the control treatment ( 0 ton ha-1 ) . The controltreatments gave the following values of 6.81 dS m-1 and 8.12 for EC and pH ,respectively .The soil EC decreased from 6.13 to 5.48 dS m-1 when the added manuredepth increased from 10 to 30 cm while the manure depth did not significantlyaffect the soil pH . The soil EC also decreased when the manure was mixed withsoil compared with subsoil manure layer method , it decreased to 5.42 dS m-1while the subsoil layer gave 6.13 dS m-1 whereas , the soil pH was not affectedby the manure application methods .The lowest EC value ( 3.99 dS m-1 ) wasrecorded for 40 ton ha-1 mixing with soil , while the lowest value for soil pH( 7.95 ) was recorded for 40 ton ha-1 manure added at 30 cm .
