TY - JOUR ID - TI - Predicting the final weight and weight gain in a herd of Awassi sheep independent on the initial weight and body measurements AU - Omar Sadiq Al-Jubouri AU - Riyadh Hamad Sankal AU - Ahmed Ali Adhab AU - Zaid Mohammad Mahdi PY - 2021 VL - 12 IS - (2) Appendix SP - 26 EP - 32 JO - Kirkuk University Journal For Agricultural Sciences (KUJAS) مجلة جامعة كركوك للعلوم الزراعية SN - 22210482 29586585 AB - The study was conducted in the animal field in Abu Ghraib on 27 heads of Awassi sheep, including 9 males and 18 females, for the period from 5/3/2020 to 07/30/2020, with the aim of studying the prediction of the final and primary body weight with measurements of the animal's body (body length , circumference Chest, abdominal circumference, frontal height and posterior height), as well as correlations between the studied traits. A significant and positive height was found between the primary weight and both the final weight and the weight gain were 0.84 and 0.54, respectively, and a positive and high significant correlation was observed between measurements of body length and both abdominal circumference and chest circumference (0.48 and 0.60), respectively, and the significant correlation between primary weight The chest circumference, the front height and the back high were 0.42, 0.41 and 0.48 respectively. The highest regression coefficient with a high significant effect of the final weight on the initial weight was 1.00 kg, followed by the back height which was 0.55 kg, while the slope was positive but weak and not significant between the final weight and the rest of the body measurements. The gradients of weight gain on the initial body and weight measurements were mostly negative and not significant. Keywords : regression predicting , body weight , Body measurements, Awassi sheep.
