The leishmanin skin test (LST) is one method of evaluating the infected individual's immune response to leishmania. Our aim in this study was to evaluate the relationship between positivity of the LST with duration of disease, clinical form, number of lesions, and age and gender of the patient. This study was performed on 198 patients who were affected by cutaneous leishmaniasis before any treatment was administered. Following confirmation of the diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis, relevant data were recorded, including age, gender, occupation, address, duration of disease, clinical form, location of the lesions, and the number of the lesions. After performing the leishmanin skin test, patients were treated for leishmaniasis according to the type and severity of the disease. For patients whose LST was initially negative, the test was repeated every 15 days. If the LST was still negative after 4 months, the test was repeated every 3 months; if the LST remained negative 12 months after the first test, the result was considered negative. In 179 patients (90.4 %) the test was positive at the time of the first test. In 7 patients (3.8 %) it became positive during treatment, and in 12 patients (6 percent %) the test remained negative until the end of study. There was no significant relationship between the skin lesion number and the positivity of the leishmanin skin test (p = 0.98). There was no significant relationship between age group and diameter of the induration. All of the patients who had a negative leishmanin test at the 12 months follow up visit had one lesion only. This study showed that there is no relationship between age, gender, or duration of disease with positivity of the LST or degree of positivity, but there is a significant relationship with the clinical form of cutaneous leishmaniasis at the final test (12 patients). This study showed that LST positivity did not correlate with the type of treatment.

المناعة الخلوية تلعب دورا رئيسيا في الدفاع الطبيعية ضد داء الليشمانيات الجلدي. اختبار الجلد الليشمانين (LST) هو واحد طريقة لتقييم استجابة الفرد المصاب في مأمن من الليشمانيا. وكان هدفنا في هذه الدراسة لتقييم العلاقة بين إيجابية من LST مع مدة المرض، وشكل السريرية، وعدد من الآفات، والعمر والجنس للمريض. وقد أجريت هذه الدراسة على 198 مريضا الذين تأثروا داء الليشمانيات الجلدي كانت تدار من قبل أي علاج. بعد التأكد من تشخيص داء اللايشمانيا الجلدي، وسجلت البيانات ذات الصلة، بما في ذلك نوع الجنس والعمر والمهنة والعنوان، ومدة المرض، وشكل السريرية، وموقع للآفات، وعدد من الآفات. بعد إجراء اختبار الجلد الليشمانين، تم علاج مرضى داء الليشمانيات وفقا لنوع وشدة المرض. للمرضى الذين LST كان سلبيا في البداية، وتكررت التجربة كل 15 يوما. إذا كان لا يزال سلبي LST بعد 4 أشهر، وقد تكرر هذا الاختبار كل 3 أشهر، وكان إذا كان LST بقيت سلبية بعد 12 شهرا من أول اختبار، تعتبر النتيجة سلبية. في 179 مريضا (90.4٪) وكان الاختبار إيجابي في ذلك الوقت من أول اختبار. في 7 مرضى (3.8٪) أصبحت إيجابية خلال فترة العلاج، وفي 12 مريضا (6٪ في المئة) لاختبار بقيت سلبية حتى نهاية الدراسة. لم يكن هناك علاقة كبيرة بين عدد آفة الجلد والإيجابية لاختبار الجلد الليشمانين (P = 0.98). لم يكن هناك علاقة كبيرة بين الفئة العمرية وقطر متصلبة. كل المرضى الذين لديهم اختبار الليشمانين السلبية في الأشهر ال 12 متابعة الزيارة كان واحد فقط الآفة. وأظهرت هذه الدراسة أنه لا توجد علاقة بين نوع الجنس والعمر، أو مدة المرض مع الإيجابية للLST أو درجة من الإيجابية، ولكن هناك علاقة كبيرة مع النموذج السريري لداء الليشمانيات الجلدي في الاختبار النهائي (12 مريضا). وأظهرت هذه الدراسة أن إيجابية LST لم ترتبط النوع من العلاج.} }
