TY - JOUR ID - TI - Implementation of Seismic Inversion to Determine Porosity Distribution of Maysan in Amara Oil Field, Southern Iraq AU - Ali K. Jaheed AU - Hussein H. Karim PY - 2022 VL - 63 IS - 7 SP - 3022 EP - 3030 JO - Iraqi Journal of Science المجلة العراقية للعلوم SN - 00672904 23121637 AB - The current research deals with studying the petrophysical properties represented bythe porosity and its distribution on the level of all units of the top and bottom of theKirkuk Formation Group. The study area is located in Maysan province in the southeasternpart of Iraq in the Amara field. The Kirkuk Group was deposited in theTertiary Age. The post-stack method using seismic inversion and creating arelationship between seismic data was accomplished using Hampson-Russelsoftware at well Am-1 and Seismic lines Ama 20 and 30. The research resultsindicate high porosity values on top of the formation with a decrease in acousticimpedance (Z) and, therefore, a reduction in the density. At the same time, lowporosity values were indicated for the bottom of the formation with an increase inboth acoustic impedance and density. The top of the formation contains clasticsediments with oil-sand of high porosity, which is considered hydrocarbon indicationand low porosity carbonate materials at the bottom of the formation.
